Leaders' fart: One year of Lapindo mudflow disaster

The word fart is just one of many different terms used to describe the release of gasses from the human body. Other popular names for farts or farting include: gassers, stinkers, air biscuits, bombers, barking spiders, rotten eggs, and wet ones. Internationally, some foods that cause really smelly farts include: beans, cabbage, cheese, soda, and eggs. In Indonesia, jengkol, a family member of beans produce real stink fart. Farts can be stinky, wet, loud, or silent but deadly. Pee-eeew!!!

Checkout the following conversation I got from circulating SMS:
"Sorry, I just had fart, it's stink because I consumed jengkol," AR said.
"Not me, that's a slanderous accusation. I don't like jengkol because it's not American product," SBY warned but he can't keep the 'flow' and as a result his pants looks wet and jengkol-smelly.
"Mine smells good like French fries," he continued. But soon after that, pret-pret, jengkol-smelly.
MS was frozen, red-face, trying to prevent the gas out, but she can't. Stinks too.
HH just quiet, but he has shinning face because he just got No.2.
"Shit, Rokhmin's warteg (literally means cafe) provided rotten jengkol," they complained in chorus.
PS: Rokhmin is former minister for fishery under Megawati administration and currently on trial for corruption. He fired back with A-List of VIPs accepted money from his pocket.
Thousand km away from Jakarta where most VIPs live, people in Sidoarjo, East Java has been living in a hell of fart-stinky-mudflow erupted from Lapindo Brantas Inc's drilling almost one year now.

Captain Rokhmin & The Titanic

Rokhmin Daruri, former fisheries minister under Megawati administration, has been tipped as Man of The Year by some of my colleagues. Some politicians and observers even ask the court to lighten the sentence should Rokhmin would be convicted in the trial for corruption.

Imagining Rokhmin as Captain Edward John Smith's Titanic? No.
As written by Encyclopedia Titanica, little is known about Smith's actions in the last two hours of the ships life. His legendary skills of leadership seem to have left him, he was curiously indecisive and unusually cautious. He was last seem in the bridge area having given the final order to abandon ship. He appears to have made no attempt to save himself. His body, if recovered, was never identified.
Rokhmin, for sure, will not end up like that. He could be sentenced, but not for life. The issue is Rokhmin as the 'captain' of the 'scandal' wrote a journal about who's who (got the money) like a captain with his passengers. Rokhmin's 'Titanic' also carries VIPs. He started to disclose the name of his passengers late March with high-profile names in political establishment such as Saefullah Yusuf (former minister for underdeveloped regions). The list has been increasingly gained wider crowds when Didi Sadili, Rohmin staff who oversaw the ministry's non-budgetary funds testified before the court on May 8.
Didi disclosed the money transfered in details to all president hopefuls or their respective teams in 2004 election. Amien Rais got Rp400 million, Megawati Rp280 million, Yudhoyono Rp477.5 million, Wiranto Rp228 million, and Hamzah Haz Rp215 million. Most of these groups denied except Amien Rais who admitted that he accepted the money. Amien also stole public sympathy when he stated that he was ready to be prosecuted. But Amien asked other groups to admit like what he did. Amien went further with allegations that some candidates also received money illegally from overseas donors including former World Bank president Paul Wolfowitz (former US Ambassador to Indonesia).
While Amien didn't mention names, president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono reacted angrily to Amien's allegation. An unnecessary Move by president to accuse Amien of slanderous act when Amien didn't mention the president's name!

Disclosure on CP Prima-Dipasena deal, Harita Group & Lim Hariyanto family

CP Prima's plan to acquire Dipasena has boosted the company's stock price. But it's not clear how much shares actually the company bought (to be consolidated or not with CP Prima), what will be the impact for CP Prima's asset & liabilities (with commitment from Barclays & BNP Paribas), or it risks being accused of misleading information to pump-up share price, etc. Lots of questions. Other than that it's interesting that Harita Group secured US$55 million syndicated loan this week. Who are the people behind? What assets the group have? Only at yosefardi.com.

Asian Agri tax fraud

Koran Tempo and Tempo magazine published a very interesting story on tax fraud investigation on PT Asian Agri, palm oil subsidiary of RGM International today. Tax Officers were upbeat with the preliminary results, especially after they found a bunker of Asian Agri documents few days ago. But Asian Agri denied the fraud allegation and insisted that as a matter of accounting differences only. Meanwhile, anti-money laundering agency PPATK has launched its own investigation on possible money laundering committed by Asian Agri but said the result would be subject to availability of data provided by overseas partners.

Are we in a constitutional crisis?

Looking at how our 'senators' (Dewan Perwakilan Daerah) eagerly propose an amendment on 1945 Constitution, I could only ask: Are we really in a constitutional crisis or these senators simply want to steal the show and get more power? Shouldn't they take care problems in their respective areas or deal with autonomy issues?

I was expecting Jakarta senators to paid attention on issues like worsening traffic jams, land dispute in Meruya between Permadi Rachmat (former CEO of Astra International) and people occupied the land he claimed three decades ago, or mount pressures to have our muddy and smelly rivers cleaned up immediately and cheap housing for workers.
Similarly, I hoped senators from Riau to mount pressures toward illegal logging and massive land clearing. I expected Papua senators to raise their voices on bigger revenue from Central Government derived from Freeport's tax & royalty payments.
