Clearer picture of cabinet reshuffle

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono finally gave clearer signal of his plan to reshuffle the cabinet, especially the ecoomic ministers. SBY clearly stated that Dr Boediono, former minister of finance under Megawati Soekarnoputri administration and chairman of national development planning during BJ Habibie presidency, had accepted his offer even though Boediono prefers to enjoy his retirement as lecturer at Gajahmada University.
The president admitted that he had talked to Boediono yesterday and that he would be in the economic team. Would he be the chief economic minister replacing Aburizal Bakrie? No clear answer. "We need someone who understand macroeconomy," the president said, a stronger signal.
There is speculation that Boediono might return to his previous post as finance minister. "We will see each other at Lapangan Banteng (the ministry of finance office in Central Jakarta)," Boediono told Detik.com.
Rumors said energy minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro might be promoted to replace Aburizal while the later would replace Alwi Shihab as Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare Affairs. In this scenario, transportation minister Hatta Radjasa will replace Purnomo.
But should SBY needs Boediono to lead the economic team, most likely Dr Sri Mulyani Indrawati will be the finance minister replacing Jusuf Anwar.
Previous scenario was Aburizal would be moved to trade ministry and trade minister Mari Pangestu will replace Sri Mulyani's position as minister for national development planning.
Stock market reacts positively to Boediono news as he is seen capable to manage the economy. But everything could change until the last minute especially take into account a possible rebuff from Vice President Jusuf Kalla's camp. Kalla is the main supporter for Aburizal. (Kalla was reportedly rejected Boediono's candidacy as minister of finance when the cabinet was composed last year).
Other minister that most likely to be replaced is Andung Nitimihardja, the minister for industry and trade. Businessman Rahmat Gobel, a close aide to SBY and JK during last year's election, is tipped to replace Andung.
