Artalyta removed to the real prison

Convicted businesswoman Artalyta Suryani has been removed from his "luxury cell" in Pondok Bambu prison in Jakarta to Tangerang Penitentiary tonight along with two other "star prisoners", Limarita and Darmawati Dareho, following public outrage on the finding from the Presidential judicial corruption task force's surprised inspection in a number of penitentiaries on Sunday.

There is no information available about the "quality" of the new cell for Artalyta, sentenced to five years jail in July 2008 for bribing prosecutor Urip Tri Gunawan US$660,000. Urip, who led an investigation into the alleged embezzlement of Bank Indonesia liquidity support funds (BLBI) involving tycoons Sjamsul Nursalim and Anthony Salim, has also been sentenced in the case.

Artalyta, according to the judges, asked Urip to give the summons letter for Sjamsul to her, so that Sjamsul would avoid questioning at the Attorney General's Office (AGO).
