Hatta Rajasa is still the frontrunner

Coordinating minister for the economy Hatta Rajasa is still considered the frontrunner in next month's race for chairmanship at National Mandate Party (PAN), the fifth largest party in the House of Representatives (DPR). His main challenger is economist Drajad Wibowo.
One of them will replace Soetrisno Bachir who has been in the position since 2005. Soetrisno is a businessman with interests in energy sector.
Patrialis Akbar, executive of PAN, who is also minister for law and human rights affairs, believes Hatta is supported by most party members. But Drajad claimed he secured support from leaders of 327 provincial and regency level branches of PAN. Hatta supported SBY in the July presidential election, while Drajad campaigned for Kalla.
