Telcos social responsibility: Lower tariff please!

Three major telecommunications players, PT Telkom Tbk, PT Excelcomindo Pratama Tbk, and PT Bakrie Telecom Tbk reported sharp rises in profit in the first nine months, The Jakarta Post reported. Good news for shareholders and investors. But significantly lower telecommunication tariff would be a better news to read!

Fully agree!!!

But it will be difficult, as I would predict that they will come up with the following answers:
1) Investment in US Dollar: has not yet reached break-even,
2) Loans/Debts in US Dollar and other foreign currency: need to "save" some money to pay these debts in its original currencies,
3) Need to maximise the "shareholder values"... stake holders can always wait...(well, as long as "the line" does not broke down and the stake holders can still use the phone....then why bother?)
4) "We are for-profit entity... not social entity"

Again !!!! fully agree !!!

lower tariff is 100% possible to implement, but it's depend on the regulation from "the owner" of indonesian telecommunication...

i can said that telecommunication market in indonesia is a half global market no a fully global market, because PT TELKOM still charge operator for interconnection, and it's make in no sense at all
