Cepu-like scenario in Natuna D-Alpha?

Regional administrations in Central & East Java secured 10% participating interest in Cepu oil and gas project. Today, some newspapers quoted Riau Islands governor Ismeth Abdullah saying his administration would ask the same in the Natuna D-Alpha project to be renegotiated between Indonesia government & ExxonMobil/Pertamina. That would make the process even more interesting to watch.

Good luck! If the field is more than 12kms offshore it is national not regional authority as far as I know. Does he have the 10% to invest? 10% of $50bn is an awfully large sum of money.

I dont think it is anymore the question of available funds or 12 miles limit etc. We have to realize that any business in Indonesia should grab along local people. It is not anymore Jakarta power..believe me. If you go to the province and tell them that Jakarta gave me this and that you will not get the welcome drink. This local spirit will be even more powerful with time..
