This is more of a question than anything else: I have been reading many things about Sukanto Tanoto in the news. What exactly does he do?
Also, what is Mochtar Riady (not Riyadi, I think) up to recently?
What proportion of the investments owned by the people in your list is in foreign country?
hmm..nothing changed. still the same people after all these years....
If you could add your estimate of their net worth, it would be of interest.
Mind you, I have problems imagining a billion rupiah, let alone a billion dollars!
Mr Kusumo & Jakartaass,
Give me time to do some calculations, it's tough but I'll try my best.
How about Bambang Hartono (Budi Hartono's brother), as the owner of 49% of Djarum.
Or the list only include main shareholder from the business groups?
I assume Forbes simply took the public data, using the listed companies, to predict their net worth. That's difficult to implement in Indonesia. Just like Djarum, two names should be listed, Bambang & Budi Hartono to represent the family.
Both are ultimate shareholders in BCA, the largest private-owned bank in Indonesia, with around 10% shares. BCA's market cap is around US$4.5 billion, so a 10% could translate into US$450 million for Bambang & Budi Hartono.
Not to mention that both are the ultimate shareholders of two other banks (Haga & Hagakita), some huge property projects in major cities etc.
Yest, it takes a while for me to come up with better numbers on these guys.
I used to work for Sukanto.
His group is RGM, ranging from forestry, pulp and paper: APRIL - with RAPP in Riau as it's largest operation, Sateri - with TPL in Medan and Bahia Pulp in Brazil.
Also palm oil plantation & operation: Asian Agri
Oil and Gas: PO&G
Construction: Pec-Tech
Property: Uniland
and other small companies to manage his family's personal assets, and others to "smoothing" out his operation...
Believe me, I had a hard time understanding the "complete" organization chart when I first joined them. It's like octopus..
In summary, this guy is extremely rich and very stinchy at the same time! He's also extremely smart and a good motivator speaker, and could be very rude and EXTREMELY obnoxious also that you feel like grabbing one of ur shoes and throw it at him...
