Sri Mulyani, The Best Finance Minister in Asia?
Talking about awards, it's about preference. So, when Emerging Markets, a newspaper, named Indonesia Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati as The Best Finance Minister in Asia, we have to see in that perspective. It's a challenge for Sri Mulyani herself as many might have different view on her performance.
As reported by Tempointeraktif.com, quoting Taimur Ahmad, chief editor of the newspaper, Sri Mulyani is considered as the best finance minister in Asia based on some aspects such as economic growth, investor's confidence, rating, and foreign investors views. Emerging Markets newspaper give the award regularly every IMF-World Bank meeting.

What? Are they MAD?
Economic Growth : GDP growth of Indonesia is lower than VIETNAM for crying out loud (approx. 6% compared to 8%)!!!
Investors confidence has not yet "returned" again as it was 10 years ago (just before the crisis hit this region)... Same thing happen to the "rating".... one of the proof: the requests of Political Risk Insurance for every project financed by overseas lender grows significantly for the past 2 years!!!
C'mon people...wake up....!!!
She's not that "bright" that I know of back then during school days in Jogja.....

Yes. She deserves to be the best Finance Minister in Asia. But I think the award was not given to Mulyani as Indonesia's Finance Minister, But IMF's Finance Minister for Indonesia... hehehe..
1. 6% from almost $300 billion economy. just do the count.
2. Which ministers can control the floor at DPR during discussion and earn respect at the sametime. She is one of the few.
3. Which ministers can return to the President with solutions, rather than new problems ?
4. We will pay $3.7 billion to IMF 1st quarter next year at the latest.
5. Lastly, the best not only in Asia, but the world ... She followed the steps of Budiono ...

I don't beleieve with all the awards.It's all PR ,politics and business involve.It's too early to say that she is the best finance minister of the year.The leader shold not looking for an award but result and prosperity for his/her people.
Maybe the magazine has something to look after, more projects from the ministry or endorsed by those who want to get more lucrative deals from the ministry...I've been working for such kind magazines in the past...these publishers simply give awards to get rewards, no clear criteria, sometimes no research at all...they publish Indonesian suplements and charge companies hell of a cost...squeezing Indonesian money...so, don't take it too serious...it's Indonesian people, not the magazine, who will decide whether Sri Mulyani deserved...
For the person who said "She's not that "bright" that I know of back then during school days in Jogja.....", at least she's a minister, and she's the one who receive the award. If you think you're "brighter" than her, you should've been the one to become a finance minister and receive the award. Before you criticise, you should looked at the mirror and see who you really are!
